Activity 2: The Black Drain Summer learning journey


I have to find two other polluted rivers with Tarawera River and i have to find out there names the location (place) and what is being done to clean it up.


Tarawera River is in New Zealand, people are trying to get algae out of the river.


Gerard Hutching river is in New Zealand they are taking Kayak and boats to get rubbish out.

Sarno River is in Italy and they are doing some notices if anybody would like to help clean it.

    Thanks for sharing your 'black drain' post research with us. It is good to know that there are people working towards clearing our rivers and streams.

    You said that the Tarawera River is being cleaned of its algae. What makes algae bad? How are they removing it?

    I like how you included an extra river from Italy. It is interesting to know that other countries are also struggling with pollution of their rivers and lakes. What made you pick this one?
